A Much Deserved Rest

Mother Earth has changed her clothes
She’s sick of wearing green,
A girl hell-bent to shake things up
Creating change of scene

With crimson reds emboldening
And golds resembling fire,
Her landscape paints a masterpiece
Inspiring art’s desire

And shift it does through light and wind
With views spectacular,
A patchwork stitched by nature’s hand
A hymn by heavenly choir

And though we hate to see it pass
The fleeting gift gives light,
To beauty in our passing
To letting go the fight

For soon the trees will quiet
As Mother Earth’s undressed,
And tucked beneath her blanket
For a much deserved rest
